Review 7 Aug 2010. “The perfect place to stay in Port Douglas for so many reasons” The highest compliment we could pay the Regal, and the managers Bob and Sheryl is that we were made to feel like we were the only ones staying there (which we weren't!) The friendly welcome, bags carried to the room, quick tour, demo of the jacuzzi on the balcony, all freshly cleaned and warmed for our arrival. A wave and a smile each time we headed to the beach. It was just perfect. The rooms are a good size, very comfortable resort furniture, king size bed etc. The place is spotless. There is always someone sweeping, cleaning etc. The pool is a great size, and shade for the family. We enjoyed a bbq by the pool one night which was perfect. The location is great, just a few mins walk to the beach on one direction and all the restaurants and the supermarket the other. It's at the quiet end of the main street, but is very central to everything. This was my 5th trip to Port Douglas and this was the nicest place we have stayed and the most central. Great for a 2 year old to walk to the beach, come back and have a sleep, then head for another swim in the pool, before venturing out for dinner. Could not praise the Regal and the management enough, the perfect getaway!

Tripadvisor review 7 Mar 2011. “Great room, great staff, great location!” Cannot recommend this place enough. Great service from the owners who were more then helpful. Room was great, received a complimentary upgrade on arrival to a rooftop room which was beautiful and clean. The pool is great and nice place to relax. We also loved the location of this place, a few minutes walking distance to everything; beach, shops and marina. Would definitely come back!

Tripadvisor review 19 Feb 2011. “Great Service, Great Rooms and Awsome Pool” Stayed 13 days during so called "Wet Season". Very little rain till last few days. Cyclone Yasi passed 200km to the south during our stay and we are pleased to report no damage to Port Douglas. Sherly and Bob very helpful and reassuring as cyclone approached. They were great booking tours for us and recommending drives and restaurants. The Regal is right in town, walk to restaurants, bars, marina and the beach. The room we had, had a spa in the balcony - great after a day exploring. The hotel pool also very refreshing.

Review 29 Jan 2011. “Best location & exceptional service” We stayed at the Regal Port Douglas for 2 weeks with our baby daughter. The location is fantastic - only 200m from the beach & walking distance to shops & cafes on the main street (Macrossan Street) & the marina. Is at the quiet end of the main street, so you can enjoy the wonderful restaurants, but still retreat to the peace of the Regal. Bob & Sheryl are amazing hosts - they go out of their way to assist & ensure you have a great holiday - a very friendly, warm welcome & they personally carry your luggage to your room, tour bookings, & even details such as a cot for our baby daughter. Their personal service is exceptional. The Regal Unit we stayed in was spacious with a kitchen, lovely spa bath, & the large balcony overlooked the pool. We highly recommend the Regal - thankyou Bob & Sheryl, we look forward to coming back!

Tripadvisor review 17 Dec 2010. "Great area and good apartments” Stayed in a studio apartment with indoor spa for 10 nights. Bath and basin were separated from the bedroom by a folding door. Balcony overlooked the street, fridge, kettle and iron/board were supplied. Location is in centre of town and easy walk to departure wharf for various Great Barrier Reef tours. Very short walk to beach and shopping/dining strip. Reception staff (possibly owners?) were very thorough in offering information and advice for the area. Friendly and helpful at all times. Resort has a nice, relaxed feel and underground free parking. There were washing machines available although we did not use these. The pool area is nice for a splash but unsuitable for laps. There is a free electric barbeque beside the pool and outdoor dining furniture available also. 25 contributionsWe were very happy with our stay at the Regal Port Douglas, staff were helpful, the area is beautiful and things we wanted to do were all easily accessible.

Trip Advisor Comment 3 May 2010. The best place I've ever stayed - My wife and I decided to go to Port Douglas for our honeymoon. After considering a lot of places to stay we narrowed it down to 2 for value for money. We then decided that we wanted to be close to the main street for the restaurants, nightlife and the beach. So it was decided that Regal was the place to be. We chose the 1 bedroom self contained apartment with Jacuzzi on the balcony, which ended up being bigger than the picture showed so we were really impressed. The apartment had everything we needed for stay at home meals but with such a great selection of restaurants being so close we ate out all the time. Still it was nice to have it for those breakfasts before we went out on tours. The Jacuzzi was huge and warm if we wanted it with different types of jets for whatever massage we wanted. The best thing we found about staying at the Regal was the service. When we got there they couldn't wait to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. They were warm and very friendly people who have an excellent knowledge of the area and their advice was spot on. We were able to book all our adventures through them and took their advice on everything and I can safely say we would have had only half the holiday if we planned it ourselves. We will be back!! Thank you soooo much!!

Trip Advisor Comment 21 April 2010. Perfect Port Douglas Holiday - Great Value - Stayed here for 4 nights while on honeymoon in TNQ for two weeks. Bob and Cheryl are gems! very friendly and easy to talk to and very helpful. The room was spotless upon arrival, we stayed in the one bedroom private rooftop courtyard with private jacuzzi and the jacuzzi was on and bubblying ready for us on arrival. The pool was lovely and perfect after a day of sight seeing. The location was great and easy walk to dinner and shops

Trip Advisor Comment 2 Apil 2010. So good, and in the centre of town - We stayed for a week in a one bedroom apartment at the end of March. The first floor apartment was really clean and spacious with a large balcony. The ensuite bathroom was large with a shower/spa-bath combination. There's no lift but Bob took our cases to the room while Cheryl checked us in. During our stay, I needed to have a courier pick up a package whilst we were out, which was no trouble at all to Cheryl. It was quiet in spite of being right in the town centre. The pool was really good, having a really easy entry for my wife who can't bend her knees so well these days.

Trip Advisor Comment 22 March 2010. Location, Atmosphere, Simplicity, Pool and Friendliness - My wife and 2 year old daughter and I have just stayed at the Regal in Port Douglas for 8 nights and I can highly recommend it as a wonderful resort to stay. Close to the shops, the beach and the marina the location was fantastic. The managers couldn't help you more and the rooms were wonderful. Everything you need to make a holiday simple... especially as we have a 2 year old child to entertain. I could keep up to date with my work emails using their free internet and computer. Having a large garage our hire car was always accessible and most importantly safe and secure. If anyone wants to eat at a great restaurant then Bucci is just around the corner on Macrossan St and for a more special meal try Harrisons on Wharf St. Leaving the best till last, the poll area was brilliant for both adults and children and not too small that it was crowded but not too big that it was unsafe. All in all we had a a wonderful stay. thank you to all those thre that made our stay so wonderful.

Trip Advisor comment dated 11 March 2010. EXCELLENT APARTMENT EXCELLENT VALUE - Oringinally stayed at Regal in 2003 and although have been back to Port Douglas several times since have tried other accommodation with mixed success. Based on recent Trip Advisor reviews decided to revisit Regal and we are pleased we did. The current managers are very friendly and accommodating. We arrived early but were shown straight to our room with our luggage taken on our behalf without us requesting assistance. oUr roomhas a large jacuzzi on a good sized balcony and had already been "warmed" in readiness for our arrival. The room was a separate bedroom with a large ensuite containing an excellent shower. Two three seater very comfortable sofas and a flat screen TV with a few satellite channels and DVD player. Also 4 seater glass top table. Regal is centrally located being close to many restaurants, hotels, shops and a short walk to the beautiful 4 mile beach. We love Port Douglas ans shall continue to return and would not hesitate to use Regal again. Oh and don't be put off by visiting in January. This is our 7th visit in 11years in January and not once have we had more than short bursts of rain. We were from 12th to 16th Jan this year and had beautiful sunny days with only a little cloud and NO RAIN despite what the weather reports emanating from Brisbane were predicting.

Trip Advisor Review dated 17 January 2010. We stayed at the Regal for 12 nights and had a two bedroom ground floor apartment which included two bedrooms and two bathrooms (one with a spa bath) large living area and a jacuzzi on the balcony. The jacuzzi was preheated for our arrival and was a nice way to be welcomed after a long flight travelling with 3 children. The apartment was clean and spacious enough to accomodate 5 people and with two seperate bedrooms (each with king sized beds) and two Tv's dvd palyers and bar fridges, the kids could have their own space and the adults could do their thing. We dined in most days and givien the proximity to restaraunts, shops, beach and marina, only needed to hire a car for a limited number of days (to travel to Mossman Gorge, Daintree, Hartleys Croc Farm and Habitat Sanctuary). Otherwise no car was needed for the bulk of our stay in Port Douglas. Staff were friendly and willing to assist, and the building seemed to be secure, clean and tidy with nice gardens and pool area. We will be happy to use these apartments again when heading to Port Douglas.
